Yesterday, we were at Target doing a little shopping. We ran across these in the MENS section:
Jax kept going on and on about how Daddy needed them so I snapped this picture and sent it to Kev. Jackson insisted… Well we went on with our shopping and I thought that was the end of it.
BUT I WAS WRONG!
After putting all of the contents on the counter at checkout.. Jax noticed that the “SuperMan Panties” were not there. He started protesting, very loudly, that “Mommy you forgot those SuperMan panties for Daddy. He needs them for your annibursury. He needs them.” We had to have a whole argument as to why Daddy didn’t need them and why I wasn’t going to go back and get them.
I guess he had heard us talking about how it was our Anniversary and seen us exchanging gifts and cards, etc. So he decided that Daddy was in need of some Superman Panties.. It was cute.. and a little embarrassing. Everyone around us got a good laugh… but inside they were probably scared and wondering what my husband needs “Superman Panties” for.. or why the poor kid knows that daddy wears “SuperMan Panties.” I’m blushing… just thinking about it!!
To Kev’s defense…. SpiderMan would be more his style, not SuperMan!! Ha Ha!

So.. August has been HOT! We’ve had 17 days in a row of 100+ temps.
Grandad came for a visit.
Kevin had a birthday and we made a chocolate coconut cake. Jackson tried to steal some when he thought we weren’t looking!

Ashton went to camp and had a great time. She made a lot of new friends. It’s an awesome Christian camp. I’m always amazed and the time, effort, and love that they put into this camp for the kids. If you are looking for an awesome place to send your kids… Sky Ranch is AMAZING! I hope that Ashton will want to be a counselor there when she is college age. Such a neat opportunity to serve others.
Decorating for the drive to camp. Cookies might have been the motive here:)

Riding on the wagon, heading over to their cabins to drop them off.

Ashton’s bunk all made.. Time to say good bye for the week.

Pictures from the week, with random new friends!

Kylie was so excited when it was time to pick Ash up.

The girls with their counselors.

I didn’t get much done while Ashton was gone.. but I did manage to get my hair cut and her room snazzed up a little more.
Goofy self-portrait.

And then… Ashton had her back to school picnic at her new school. It was actually a lot of fun. They do A LOT of family activities through out the year.. I’m really looking forward to this new start.

And then…

Watch the goats reaction…
I’ve learned from the goat.. that sometime there’s no need to argue. He offers a simple solution to my parenting problem. When my kids yell at me or argue with me.. This is what they get. When people who will not take no for an answer cross my path they will now get “the goat.” Telemarketers beware when calling my house!
Try it the next time someone someone argues with you. Try it at work! It’s guaranteed to stop them in their tracks.

I know this may be TMI for a lot of people.. but I’m sure some of you will find it interesting. I can finally see a light at the end of the diaper tunnel! Yay!! We are finally making progress and I’m so proud. It’s been a struggle to get Jax to use the toilet. He doesn’t like change in routine and I’m not sure he was getting all the cues until now. About a month ago.. I decided that no diapers/pull ups would be used for Jax unless we were going in public or he was sleeping. He’s been awesome at tinkle.. but number 2… not so much. The kiddo was holding it in until a diaper was put on him for nap time or bedtime and he’d go within 5 minutes. I mean the kid would be turning green and walking around like he’d been riding a horse for hours.. saying he didn’t feel good… and just would refuse to go when placed on the toilet. It was the weirdest thing. I felt bad for him and worried he was really going to make himself sick. After a few weeks of that… I said enough. NO more diapers. I’ve been putting him to bed with a waterproof pad under him then switching him to diaper after he falls asleep. Now he has no choice.. dirty pants or use potty.. He doesn’t like dirty pants. It seems to be working. It’s either that or the ice cream I’m bribing him with! Haha! Whatever it is.. I don’t care.. It’s worth it!

He has only had a few minor accidents, but he seems to be getting it now! It’s so exciting. I’ve even taken him in public with out a pull up on and felt confident! So everyone do a happy dance with me.. and congratulate him next time you see him. It’s a huge huge huge HUGE deal. I mean he’s almost 4. This is huge!
Kylie’s doing great too. It comes so natural for her. She’s actually teaching Jax. She’ll be out of pull ups soon too!

My friend Hollie Dorethy (Actually her daughter and Ashton met in Kindergarten) is an awesome cook and a really, really cool person. She has won Good Morning America Emeril Showdown, and was privileged enough to cook live on air with him. She has been on Good Day Dallas, placed in the Bobby Flay Flayvors of Washington Contest, Tyler Florence’s Keeping America Cooking contest, operates a catering company called “Tastefully Divine”, cooked on live cooking segments on Good Morning Texas. She is going to be on MasterChef that starts this Tuesday on Fox. Let’s watch it and root for her. She has a really interesting foodie blog. Check it out: Haute Hot Food. I’m excited! Go Hollie!

I’ve been really really busy lately painting and decorating the new pad. Ashton’s room is pretty much done. Minus some new blinds and a brass bed.. that we haven’t gotten around to getting a mattress for. So you’ll have to picture it here… Her current bed converts into a futon couch. She found this really cool picture to tie all of the colors together. Here are some pictures

Her bath:

I’ve been working on the dining room too. It’s still a work in progress… but here is before and after it’s been painted so you can see the color:

AND.. Here are some random pictures of the cutest kids in the whole world.

Kylie fixed her own hair.. with her “hibbean!”

Posing on my fabulous new bedroom rug.

Future Red Hatter?

Kylie and her BFF Alexandra(Hola’s baby)

I searched and searched for at least 5 minutes for the babies the other day. Frantically checking everywhere. Ash I walked through the kitchen, again, I heard Jackson say, “baby Kywee, Shut up your pie hole.” The sound came from UNDER my kitchen counter.. The babies were in a cabinet under the island in the kitchen. I’ll have to remember that spot when Ash starts wanting to date.. Muahahaha!

Jax got to get chocolate icecream for making poo poo in the potty.

Cheeze!

At Papa’s house.

Ash and Madison.

My father (Thanks Daddy!!) and I worked hard today on Ashton’s bathroom. I textured and painted the walls. He cleaned up the shower doors and replaced the rollers on the doors so that they roll open and shut. He cleaned up and re-caulked the tub. AND He put down new flooring which made a huge difference. It looks great. I have pics of the floor before and after… more pics of the finished bathroom will follow as soon as I finish painting trim and stuff…
