I Hate Going in Public…

November 18th, 2008 by Natalia

I’ve been having pretty regular contractions for a while now. They come and they go. Last night they started up around 8pm and went all night long and have continued all day today. They are uncomfortable, but not really what I would consider painful. Pain is a relative term.. Anyways… to see if I could keep them going or get them going stronger I loaded Jax up as I have done almost everyday for the past few weeks and we went to town. Today, we hit Wal-Mart to walk around and to get diapers. Let me just tell you a FEW of the comments I received:

  1. I passed a little girl in a basket not much older than Jax who said to me… “Why are you hiding a ball in your shirt?” I laughed. Her mama explained to her it was a baby and not a ball. She then said, “well why is it round then? Babies aren’t round.”
  2. Random manager approaches me and tells me that I’m “flushed and sweaty and should probably be at the hospital and not out shopping.” She said she didn’t want me to have the baby in the store.

Everyone that I made eye contact with asked when my baby was due. When I told them last Saturday they all had advice on how to get her to come out faster:

  • One lady said to do some deep knee bends.
  • Another told me to go home and have a beer.
  • A very old lady told me it was time for castor oil.
  • Another indicated that she was afraid my hips weren’t wide enough…
  • One insisted there was NO way it was only one baby.

On the way to the register, I refused to look at anyone or smile at anyone… because I’m contracting, my back hurts and I’m so ready to have this baby so I can not be so pathetic looking anymore. I miss the days where people don’t speak to you in the store unless they run you over with their cart.

I get home to where I think I’m safe. I got Jax to sleep and then I put up the junk that I spent way too much money on. As soon as I sit down to a glass of Ginger Ale and the freaking door bell rings…. Two very nice ladies are going door to door handing out pamphlets about “The Truth.” I open the door and she doesn’t even talk about what she knocked on my door for… The first thing she said was “OH, MY I hope you are going to have that baby soon. This let to a 5 minute conversation about being huge and talking about dialation and yet more things I should do to speed up the process. At the end she says they will pray for me and reaches out and lays her hands on my belly and begins praying that this baby will come out today… I don’t like it when random strangers want to touch me…. much less when they do it without asking…

It’s been an exhausting day. I think I’ll relax and hopefully have the baby soon….

They Are Growing Up TOO Darn Fast!

November 18th, 2008 by Natalia

It’s been a while since I let you all know what’s going on in our lives… other than how big fat and miserable that I’ve been. I’m still there… and very much pregnant…but I’m trying to enjoy the other things in life!

Jackson

  • Finally some new words and phrases: Pizza, Cheese Pizza, Peez(Please), That’s Coo!, There it is, Yook mama a choo choo, oo aa oo aa(monkey), Turtle, Bless you(after you sneeze), Apple, Banana, I code -I code(I’m cold), Bubbol(Bubble)
  • His favorite TV shows and their translations: Booze Cooze(Blues Clues), Duuudra and Bootz(Dora and Boots), Bob Bob(Sponge Bob), BaggaBaggaBagga (Yo Gabba Gabba), MingMing (Wonder Pets).
  • He also loves Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, and Scooby Do - but hasn’t figured out how to say them yet.
  • He’s getting taller and taller. He wears a 3T at 2! He has huge feet! He’s going to pass his daddy up by junior high!
  • He’s still the pickiest eater you’ve ever seen. He lives on cheerios, chicken strips, soy milk, apple juice, french fries, apples, and any kind of fruit/veggie/protein juice mix that I can find and get into him.
  • He’s a decent sleeper now, once we convince him to stay in his bed. I’m just thrilled that he NEVER wants to get in my bed.
  • He LOVES to read board books with his Daddy.
  • He recently started liking to do easy puzzles- over and over and over and over again. Yesterday we did a number puzzle at least 20 times!
  • He’s an outside lover. If allowed he’d stay outside all the time… He likes to play with dirt, sticks, leaves, bugs, lizards, and whatever else he can find to get dirty. He’s ALL boy!

Ashton

  • Ashton will be receiving an award for A-B Honor roll this Friday!
  • Her basketball season concluded this week. They won all the games except for the last one. She is sad that it’s over.
  • She’s now a Brownie Girl Scout - let me know if you are going to want cookies in the spring! She has a lot of activities planned to keep her busy and to help out in the community.
  • She’s got a week long trip by herself planned to see Grandy and Nana and everyone else during her Christmas break.
  • She’s getting VERY anxious and impatient with her sister not being born soon. She says it hard on her, not knowing. HA! Hard on her! HA HA!

That’s about all I can think of right now. Now, back to waiting for Kylie!

Sick…..

November 14th, 2008 by Natalia

So the full moon has come and gone and still no miss Kylie. I’m still ridiculously large and very much pregnant. Tomorrow is my due date.. It’s kinda dishearting to have been having contractions for weeks and now D-day is arriving and still no precious little bundle of joy to hold.

I’m sure it’s for the better though because Jax seems to be coming down with something. He’s had a fever today and is tugging at his ears. He’s shivery and cranky as heck until the advil kicks in then he’s his normal, tearing up the house, self. He hasn’t been eating much for the last few days and his sleep at night has been lacking. He always seems to scream right as soon as I’ve gotten back into bed after my hourly meeting with the potty- right when I’ve made my nest and gotten comfortable. That’s when he squeals wanting juice or Sponge Bob to be turned on. GRRRR…. Anyways… I think he’s getting his first ear infection. 2 years without one is pretty amazing… must be all that boob he ingested early in life. His fever has been low enough that his pediatrician told me to keep him comfy with tylenol and advil and watch him over the weekend and bring him in Monday if he’s not better. So I guess that’s what we’ll do.

Ok… enough griping….. I must go pamper him and his sissy(who has all of the sudden developed all kinds of ailments when she found out Jax isn’t feeling well.) She’s funny!

A BUSY Halloween!

November 2nd, 2008 by Natalia

Our Pumpkins.

We had a very busy and fun filled Halloween. Ashton wore her Lady Bug costume to school and finished the school day off with a party. They had candy corn races and played wrap the mummy.

After a quick rest and a re-application of make up we were off to eat dinner at Mimi and Papa’s house. Jackson drug everyone around outside before dinner making it very hard to get a picture of him.

My lady bug, on the other hand, was a great poser. She was happy to smile for pictures(big surprise)!

Off to trick or treat in style!

36.5 Weeks and Counting

October 22nd, 2008 by Natalia

No one can say when Kylie will come, but things are starting to happen leading us to believe it will be sooner rather than later. I’m not going to give you the details on my cervix or anything (that’s gross and TMI for the web in my opinion) but I will say that I have been having contractions for the past week or so and they are causing changes in that direction. So… Here are some fat bellah pics for 36 weeks… It might be the last set… You never know… (Pics are 32, 34, and 36 weeks in each row)

A Bit of GREAT News!!!

October 8th, 2008 by Natalia

I’m not sure if I mentioned it before, but I’ve been having issues with Ashton and school most of this year. It all started a week after school started and a new teacher was added to the 3rd grade due to over crowding. Apparently, they sent home a permission slip asking for volunteers. I didn’t receive this. Ashton was one of the lucky ones to be thrown into a 1st year teacher’s class. She was devastated. She cried and cried when she found out. She cried at school. Her best friend was in her old class and I thought that was what the problem was. I wasn’t going to pitch a hissy fit so she could stay in a class because of a friend.

Well, 5 weeks have passed and things have gone from bad to worse. She has been bringing home failing grades. I fight with her an average of 30 mins just to get her to do her homework and her reading. She has been visiting the nurse almost daily complaining of headaches and stomach aches and basically anything to get her out of class. She comes home crying saying she is scared to death that she is going to fail the TAKS(standardized test here in TX) and not get to go the 4th grade. She constantly tells me she hates school and why should she try? She pretends to be sick to try and stay home from school constantly.

Anyone who knows Ashton, knows that she’s HIGHLY intelligent/ borderline gifted. She has never made bad grades or been scared of any tests. She makes hundreds on her spelling test without ever studying. She reads at a much higher level than her age and always has. So when she started hating school and bringing home 0’s on papers…. I knew something was wrong.

Today I had a chat with the principal at her school. I let him know my concerns. He agreed with me that switching classes on Ash has had an adverse reaction on her. He did some checking and there is one spot available in Ashton’s old class. He talked with the teachers and they all agreed that it was in Ashton’s best interest, academically, for her to be moved back to the other class. Ashton will be so happy when I tell her the news this evening. It’s such a relief to be putting her back in the other class. For one, the teacher is a veteran teacher. I’m told by the principal that ALL her kids pass the TAKS and don’t think twice about it. Which is how it should be. There is no need to SCARE the kids about a test that is 6 months away.. Poor things.

Anyways.. I just had to share my excitement. I know this will make a difference and I will get my good student back!
