Happy 3rd Anniversary to Us

August 27th, 2008 by Natalia

Today is our 3rd Anniversary! On one hand, it seems like a lot longer. On the other, it seems like just yesterday that he asked me to be his wife. He took me out to a nice Mexican dinner and then a couple of margaritas later(at least for me-I don’t remember if he drank any. I think he was so nervous) we ended up taking a walk in a park. I was checking out the fireflies and the ducks - completely oblivious to the fact that he had a weird protrusion in his pants pocket. Several times he had the ring box out behind me..I didn’t notice. I sat down on his lap and he showed me the ring. I almost fell over backwards. I was sure that we’d be together forever… just with different last names. It was a huge surprise. I think he said, “Will you or would you like to be my wife?” I of course said, “hell yeah” or “shhheeeeyeahhhhh” or something else really sophisticated and romantic. The best choice I have ever made, by far!

The past 3 years have been so busy! Ashton started kindergarten. Jackson was born. Kylie is on the way. I’m sure Kevin is thinking..”What the heck did I get myself into?” 2 babies in 2 years! It will definately be an adventure, but together we can do anything. I’m looking forward to many many many more years of fun and adventure together. I love you baby!!

Here is a picture of us PRE-WEDDING, when we started dating. (Ignore the stoned look on Kev’s face… I think the camera caught him pre-sneeze!)

Here is a slide show from our wedding.

The Perfect Valentine

February 2nd, 2008 by Natalia

My Valentine’s came early this year. Kev surprised me by making reservations for the two of us to dine alone tonight. He told me about the reservations earlier this week so that we could secure a sitter,(Thanks Maimie and Pop!!!) BUT he kept me in the dark about where this romantic evening would take place. I love surprises, but I was nervous on the way like it was our first date or something. (We don’t get out much) Since Jax was hatched, we’ve kinda had to stay close by since he was nursing and he was taking NO substitutes. As a side note we are 1 week boob free! YEAH!!!

Back to my perfect Valentine story. Kevin wanted to go out before Valentines to be the crowd. Neither of us enjoy waiting to dine with a big crowd of people. So we dropped the munckin off at Maimie and Pop’s house and headed down the road and across the creek. I kept trying to figure out where our final destination would be, without success. Then we pulled into this great prime rib place.

The valet guy lets me out of the car and I get all my bits and pieces in order. We enter this fine establishment and are escorted to a table in the back room. The lighting was perfect. Not too light and not too dim. At this point, I was so nervous and excited. We sat down and ordered drinks. The nervousness subsided quickly half way through my cape cod.

We started out with some delicious crab cakes. Then they brought us “A” cream cheese stuffed cherry tomato with a balsamic vinegar reduction. Notice I said “A.” It was a small square plate with ONE cute little yummy tomato on it. It was good. I could have downed 10 of those babies. The rest of the menu went like this (in case you care):

  • Spinning Bowl Salad
  • Prime Rib
  • Mashed Potatos
  • Creamed Spinach
  • Pepper Jack Mac and Cheese (which we both vowed never to eat again)
  • Yorkshire Pudding
  • Hot Fudge Sunday for desert
  • Cape Cod

My girdle almost exploded on the way out the door! I ate so much. I even brought enough home for breakfast tomorrow. It’s now my favorite restaurant.

We picked the kiddo up and came home to put him to bed. Time alone on Valentines coupled with some good eats equals the Perfect Valentines for me.

10 Awesome Valentine’s Day Gifts for Her

January 29th, 2008 by Natalia

Kev, reminded me the other night that Valentines day is just a couple of weeks away. It got me thinking about what I wanted to do for him. I realized that I have NO clue what a man would want for Valentines day. What did I do last year or the year before for him? I don’t even remember.

Well, wracking my brain, spiraled into thinking that men probably dread the holiday, because it means they must spend some more of their hard earned cash on something of seemingly little importance. So, I decided to put together a list of inexpensive, but meaningful ways that men could tell that woman in their life just how much they really love them… Be advised that while these wonderful ideas may be inexpensive…they do require a little thought and effort, which is what us ladies really love anyways!! (hint hint)

  1. Buy her the book : What I Love About You. This fill-in-the-blank book prompts you to say what is in your heart, but may not always be at the tip of your tongue. Put a little time and effort into this book and it’s sure to please any lady.
  2. Buy a blank greeting card and take the time to write her a love note telling her why you love her and how much she means to you. Dig deep and write more than “I love you and you are my world.” We want to hear that we are beautiful and that we consume your thoughts! Go here if you need help writing the perfect love letter. Add a quiet dinner (alone) to this and you can’t go wrong.
  3. Surprise her and take the day off from work. Ask her what you can do for her or what she wants to do. Spend some quality time together while the kids are at school. Time is all we are asking for, right?
  4. How about Breakfast in Bed? This cute gift basket has all you need in order to start her day off great.
  5. Cook dinner for her. If you feel you are lacking in the cooking know-how, pick up a copy of The Real Man’s Cook Book.
  6. Go for the gold and give her an “I Owe You” coupon book. Let her decide when to cash in her coupons!
  7. Wrangle the kids for some Dad time. Send your wife on her way for a day of “Her” time. She can get a pedicure or go see a movie with friends. Maybe she just wants to take a long bath free from screaming children. Maybe these aromatherapy slippers would be perfect for relieving her stress.
  8. Flowers are always good, but need a little help, in my opinion. Maybe you could deliver them in the nude or something… I don’t know.
  9. Maybe that girl in your life is a choc-a-holic like me. You could always go with some chocolate body paint, if you wanted to*wink**wink*.
  10. Last, but definitely, not least, find a sitter and treat her to a full body massage with some great massage oil.

I’m sure there are many things that I’m leaving off my list, but hopefully this will get you started. Stay tuned and I might come up with a list of things to get your man… If I figure them out!
